Expanded Explanation Of The goldeneye n64 Rules:

So you wanna play in a GoldenEye N64 tourney?

These rules have been altered and changed from the early days of our GoldenEye N64 tournaments. Now in 2007, we have an online version of rules. If you download and look at the documents you will see the details. Nothing is left out, with one exception. Expect a second edition of the online rules in the near future.

The basis for the rules set is that you will be able to take your favorite settings into a tournament match. This means, to be a winner, you must be the best at your favorite settings, but also your opponents favorite settings. In essence, you will be able to claim that you beat a player on their terms. I have opened up the rules for Licence to Kill mode, which has never happened previously. Why now? Well two reasons. I want the rules to be enjoyable for everyone. Second, the NGPA official LTK mode does not give kills for weapon hits. The default LTK mode in GoldenEye N64 will give you a kill if you hit an opponents weapon. It hardly seemed professional to have a champion who was winning from hitting another players weapons. And yes, weapon hits occur very often!

Games are timed and you need to have 2 kills total in a game for it to be deemed official. This is important to remember. Strategy plays a part in the game because going all out offence isn't always the smartest thing to do. If you are trailing a game 1-0 and there is a minute left, would you rush you opponent and give them the chance to get a 2-0 score? Or would you play defensive and make them come to you. Perhaps you tie it up 1-1 and go into an overtime game or perhaps the game ends 1-0 and you get the overtime game. Important to note that it is a combined 2 kills, so that can be 2-0, 1-1. A game can still be official even if at the end a player has a negative score!

I will add to this page to help players understand the rules and the rationale behind why things are the way they are. Enjoy and I hope to see you online soon!

Sincerely,

Graham aka GE Master
